Actual Offensive Contribution– The total number of points from goals and assists that a player actually produces based on his Quality Shots and Quality Passes.

Actual Offensive Contribution Rank– The ranking of a player by Actual Offensive Contribution, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.

Actual Overall Contribution– A player’s actual number of goals converted directly from all scoring chances plus the number of actual goals converted from the player’s passes that lead directly to scoring chances.

 

All Forwards Ranked on Defense– The ranking of all forwards based on their performance across various defensive performance metrics. 

 

All Forwards Ranked on Offense– The ranking of all forwards based on their performance across various offensive performance metrics.

 

Expected Offensive Contribution– The total number of points from goals and assists that a player is expected to produce based on his or her Quality Shots and Quality Passes.
 

Expected Offensive Contribution Rank– The ranking of a player by Expected Offensive Contribution, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.

Expected Overall Contribution– The number of goals expected to be converted directly from all of a player’s scoring chances plus the number of expected goals converted from the player’s passes that lead directly to scoring chances.

 

Expected Goals– The total number of goals expected to be converted as a result of all low-percentage, mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances. 

 

Expected Save Percentage – The goaltender’s expected save percentage based on the scoring probability for the array of shots actually faced in the game.

 

Expected Quality Goals– The number of goals expected to be converted by a player as a result of his mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances.

 

Expected Quality Goals Rank– The ranking of a player by Expected Quality Goals, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.

 

Expected Quality Goals Against– The number of goals expected to be converted by the opponent based on their mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances.

Expected Quality Goals Against Rank– The ranking of a player by Expected Quality Goals Against while such player is on the ice, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.

 

Expected Quality Assists– The number of assists expected to occur as a result of mid-percentage or high-percentage passes. 

 

Expected Quality Assists Rank– The ranking of a player by Expected Quality Assists, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.

 

Finisher Shot Count– A player’s total number of high-percentage scoring chances.
 

Finisher Shot Rank– The ranking of a player by Finisher Shot Count, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.  

 

Goaltender Rating– The goaltender’s Expected Save Percentage subtracted from the goaltender’s actual save percentage in the course of a particular game (expressed as a decimal).
 

High-Percentage Shot– Any shot type that has an expected shooting percentage of 20% or greater based on the Historical Average.

 

Historical Average– The probability of the puck entering the net on a given scoring chance based on all scoring chances of that particular type in the 2015–2016, 2016–2017, and 2017–2018 N.H.L. seasons. 

 

Low-Percentage Shot – Any shot type that has an expected shooting percentage of 8.99% or less based on the Historical Average.

 

Mid-Percentage Shot – Any shot type that has an expected shooting percentage ranging from 9.00%–19.99% based on the Historical Average. 

 

Player Rate Stat– A measure of a specific type of performance (captured in a metric) demonstrated by a player, based on a given interval of that player’s time on the ice.
 

Playmaker Pass – A pass resulting in a High-Percentage Shot. 

 

Playmaker Pass Count– The total number of passes that result in a high-percentage scoring chance. 

 

Playmaker Pass Rank– The ranking of a player by number of Playmaker Passes, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice. 

 

Player Plus/Minus– The combined total of all Mid-Percentage and High-Percentage Shots taken by a team at even-strength play while a given player is on the ice, netted against the combined total of all Mid-Percentage and High-Percentage Shots allowed by a team at even-strength play while that given player is on the ice. 

Odd Man Rush Offense– A situation where a puck carrier enters the offensive zone with the puck in his or her possession, the offensive players outnumber the defenders, a shot is taken before the defense can set up, and “momentum” is in the direction of the goal.

Overall Ranking– The ranking of players based on both Rank on Offense and Rank on Defense.
  

Rank on Defense– The ranking of players based on their defensive gameplay performance.

 

Rank on Offense– The ranking of players based on their offensive gameplay performance.

 

Rush Chances Against– The total number of mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances by the opponent.

 

Rush Chances Against Rank– The ranking of a player by the opponent’s Rush Chances Against while such player is on the ice, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.
 

Settled Offense– A situation where the defending team has all of its players back in the zone and there is a stop in the rush before the puck carrier executes a pass or a shot.
 

Settled Zone Chances Against– The total number of mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances of an opponent during settled-zone offense.

 

Settled Zone Chances Against Rank– The ranking of a player by the opponent’s Settled Zone Chances Against while such player is on the ice, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.

 

Team Plus/Minus– All Mid- and High-Percentage Shots taken for “Team A” netted against the combined total of all Mid-Percentage and High-Percentage shots allowed against a team during even-strength play.  

 

Quality Chances Against– The total number of mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances against. 

 

Quality Chances Against Rank– The ranking of a player by Quality Chances Against, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice. 

 

Quality Pass– A pass resulting in a Mid- or High-Percentage Shot. 

 

Quality Pass Count– The total number of passes that result in a mid-percentage or high-percentage scoring chance. 

 

Quality Pass Rank– The ranking of a player by Quality Pass Count, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice. 

 

Quality Shot Count– The total number of mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances.
 

Quality Shot Rank– The ranking of a player by Quality Shot Count, based on a twenty-minute interval of a player’s time on the ice.

 

Zone Entry Chances Against– The total number of mid-percentage and high-percentage scoring chances by the opponent during Zone Entry Offense. 

 

Zone Entry Chances Against Rank– The ranking of a player by the opponent’s Zone Entry Chances Against, based on a twenty-minute interval of the player’s time on the ice.

 

Zone Entry Offense– A situation where a puck carrier enters the offensive zone with the puck in his or her possession but the offensive players executing the play do not outnumber the defensive players trying to prevent the play, a shot is taken before defense can set up, and “momentum” is in the direction of the goal.
